Arrival / Departure Summary: Flight from Challis or Boise to (one of our backcountry air strips)

***Flight conditions during the fall are much more reliable out of Challis rather than the Boise airport due to the mountain passes between the Middle Fork and Boise. Chartered flights are available out of Challis. Most flights are in a 5 seat, 206, with a carrying capacity of roughly 1000 pounds. Boise flights are roughly twice the cost than those out of Challis and have less reliable schedules.

trip overview

We here at PMO dream about hunting rams in the Frank all year. We do love to deer and elk hunt to, but we live to hunt sheep. This is a very challenging hunt and is backpack based, we will be dropped off and picked up by a wrangler with stock and will spend the days glassing for a mature Ram with roaming camps often in different places every night. Pungo Mountain Outfitters is the sole outfitter for over 300 square miles in the Frank Church Wilderness area and rams can be found throughout most of our area.

Fly into one of our backcountry airstrips, (accessible only by plane or raft) to meet your guides.

you and your guides…

This is a 2x1 Hunt and so you will likely spend most of your time with or in near by proximity to one of your guides, while the other is usually a ridge or two over working to achieve a different and complementary glassing angle, we all star in contact throughout the hunt.

On the last day, you and your guide will hunt your way back to the airstrip for a scenic flight out of the wilderness.
